Life's Surprises.

The best laid plans of mice and artists. My adventures of the past two weeks.

My ninety eight year old Dad was admitted to the local hospital, in Elmer, N.J., three weeks ago.

After four days spent in ICU, his doctors decided he should get a pacemaker.

This thoughtful gentleman was Dad's roommate, after leaving ICU.

Pop and I agreed if he died of anything, it would be boredom. I, on the other hand, had my sketchbook.

The voyeur in me found unsuspecting subjects everywhere. Here; in the cafeteria.

The view of a distant farm, from Dad's room.

One day a jolly, well-meaning Catholic priest entered the room. Happily, a bit premature.

During Dad's operation, I shared a waiting room with these folks.

Implanting a pacemaker is pretty routine these days, even in a 98 year old South Jersey farmer, like my Dad.
I'm happy to say he is now on the way to recovery.
