Six months ago, when my 101 year old dad was last in the hospital, he and his roommate revolted.
Each had been hallucinating for days, for various reasons. My dad even called 911 in the middle of the night.
This cartoon still hangs on the wall in the Nurse's Station.
Unfortunately, about two weeks ago Pop had to once again be admitted to the hospital, for the same recurring problems.
Needless to say, he was not a happy camper.
These days, when anyone asks what's wrong with him, he replies "Too many birthdays!"
But when asked what he attributes to his longevity he delights in saying, "Fast horses and slow women!"
Actually I may have that backwards.
To cheer him up I stopped one morning to do a quick sketch of one of his favorite places to visit; the lake at Parvins State Park, near his home in South Jersey.
He looked at the sketch briefly, smiled, then went back to sleep.
Pop is now in a rehab facility. Like the energizer bunny, I suspect he still has lots of life left in him.
